The precursor to Inmarsat
Mini-M, Inmarsat M service uses a briefcase-sized
portable terminal for digital voice at 4.8 kbps,
low-speed data and fax communications at 2.4 kbps.
The small, lightweight terminals can be fitted on
vessels too small to accept a Inmarsat A or Inmarsat
B antenna.
